Tucked away just before the Devil’s Backbone on Farm to Market 32 in San Marcos, TX, there’s this unassuming little building you’d probably drive right past if you didn’t know better. But inside? Ohhh, let me tell ya – Senza Maeso Tasting Room and Bar is one of the coolest spots I’ve stumbled across in a while.
From the outside, it’s chill, lowkey – almost like it’s hiding in plain sight… But the second you walk through the doors, you’re transported into a cocktail dreamland. The interior is midcentury modern with a cosmic edge – arched lighting glowing like golden ripples behind the bar, rich textures, deep hues, and little details that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a swanky spaceship from the 1960s. Even the bathrooms keep it weird and wonderful with a projector looping extraterrestrial conspiracy videos (IYKYK).
The whole vibe? 10/10. Chic, unexpected, and unforgettable.
And clearly I’m not the only one who thinks so – it’s no wonder they’ve racked up an astounding 5-star rating on Google with 200+ glowing reviews and counting. People are catching on!
Now… let’s talk drinks. Because WOW.

Senza Maeso makes everything in-house – from their triple sec to their allspice. Their two flagship spirits are their R.A.Y. Vodka and their namesake Senza, a full-proof hybrid spirit that packs a serious punch. And every cocktail we tried? Flawless.
We started with the Senza Old Fashioned – smooth, balanced, and the perfect sip to just settle in and enjoy the moment. Then came the Thyme Between Two Pines; tell me that’s not the best name ever. It was made with their vodka, pineapple juice, thyme, lime, and sparkling wine (hehe that rhymed). Light, bright, and totally refreshing. A drink that tastes like creamy sunshine through the trees.
I had what I lovingly called my “girl lunch” (lol) – a Bloody Mary made with their Senza spirit. It was chef’s kiss amazing. Spicy, savory, and garnished with green beans and olives that made me feel like I was totally winning at life. (And in that moment? I was.)
We ended the evening with an espresso martini, and y’all… it was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had. Rich, smooth, with just the right kick of caffeine and booze to make you feel warm and fuzzy… or buzzy… in the best way. (Apologies friends, I forgot to take a photo of the espresso martini… did I mention that we ended with that?) There were a few honorable mentions I’m leaving out – not because they weren’t delicious, but because I don’t need y’all thinking I’ve got a problem.
Oh, and I haven’t even mentioned the people. The bartenders AND fellow revelers were sooo kind, welcoming, and just genuinely cool. We luckily stumbled upon this place on a Saturday… So, outside, they had a little flea market and live music starting around 3pm – it felt like one of those perfect Texas afternoons where everything just aligns.
Needless to say, I’ll be back. Probably often.
And to be honest? There’s so much more I could gush about – little surprises, cool touches, and fun twists I haven’t even mentioned. But I’d rather let you go in and discover it for yourself.
If you’re ever cruising through the Texas Hill Country and need a little escape – Senza Maeso is your spot. It’s weird, it’s wonderful, and it’s got the kind of drinks that stick with you (in a good way). Tell them ‘the girl with the blog’ sent ya!
